Little Luca was born swiftly and comfortably in his own home. Photographing second babies can be quite tricky. Often second labours go quite quickly and it can be touch and go. I had been given a heads up earlier in the day but things were mild at that stage. Things heated up pretty quickly that evening and once I got the call it was pretty close to the end – I arrived with only minutes to spare! I have never hauled out my camera so fast! I was caught so unaware that I virtually had no time to assess the lighting and see what settings would work. I speedily put my flash on my camera (something I don’t often do at a birth) and started shooting – almost in panic! It worked really well and we got some some incredible birthing images.
Luca’s Mum and Dad have so very kindly allowed me to share a few images of her incredible day. The birthing space is a very sacred space and often sharing with the world is a scary thought to families. I am so grateful that I get to share this birth with you. Home birth is incredible – it is doable, it is possible! With the right birthing team and support I believe every women can do it!
