Natural Birth at Park Lane
Amanda was expecting her second babe to arrive around 41 weeks, on full moon. She wasn’t far wrong. Saturday evening is when things started moving. She was due to be 41 weeks on the Sunday. Full moon was the Monday. I arrived at the hospital in the evening expecting things to go a little quicker due to it being her second baby.
Progression was slow, though, so I decided to go home for the evening. Around 4am Amanda called saying she was 6cm and had an epidural up. I prepared to arrive at 6am along with her Doula, Caroline. On arrival she was still dilating slowly. She was calm, collected and resting. Her body was doing the work and with the help of the epidural she was allowing it to do its incredible job.
Little Aimy arrived safely around 10h45 weighing a superb 3.75kg. A perfect birth. A wonderfully happy and healthy baby girl. Amanda described this birth as healing after a traumatic first birth. Success.
Many thanks to Amanda and Johann for inviting me to document this very special day. I was delighted to meet little Aimy and I’m sure she will be the joy of your lives.
Forever changed.
