I was woken at 4h20am. It was my brother (on the phone). “Sam’s in labour and progressing quickly. I think you should make your way to the hospital”. It was record timing, both Craig and I, ready and off in 20 minutes!
We arrived at the hospital at 5am. Sam was in intense labour, I could see. They only arrived, maybe, 10 minutes before us… I was on a high. I thought all my feelings and emotions from my experience (9 months ago) would come flooding back to me, but they didn’t. I was calm and prepared, and rather relieved it wasn’t me in labour!! 😉
Sam was eight centimeters dilated – OH YES! Can’t imagine how panicked my brother was – I’m pretty sure he didn’t fancy catching Oliver in the car! I take my hat off to Sam, one super strong women! Second time around and she only opted for the Gas as pain relief (again). Hell, if it were me, I would have called for the Epi at the first twinge!! 😉
Oliver was born in the water, at 6am! Yip, SIX AM! He had the cord around his neck which needed to be cut when his head was delivered (before full delivery)… Shew, what a job these Midwife’s do! Incredible!
What an indescribable experience for me! The birth of a baby is just too beautiful! Thank you, Aiden and Sam, for allowing me into one of the most intimate and vulnerable times in your lives!
