I have known Tanya a little while now and have done a few shoots her and Max (her adorable Son). She is a fabulous Mommy Blogger at Rattle and Mum Parenting Blog and regularly writes for Max (and now Rebecca!) at Dear Max. When I heard that she was pregnant and wanted me to photograph her birth I could not have felt more honoured! Andrew, at this stage was a little hesitant, however they decided to go with it. I am pretty sure there are no regrets!
It was an early morning in Sandton, Johannesburg. It was time to meet Tanya and Andrew’s precious child. On arrival the nerves where high. Although Tanya had given birth to Max via Caesarean 7 years ago, there is still this unknown second time around and the fear is every so present. The anaesthetist came around to do some checks and talk Tanya and Andrew through the procedure – it helped greatly that he had a fab sense of humour!
Little Rebecca was born happy, healthy and oh so beautiful. The Doctor held her up for all to see and she had this glow around her. It was magnificent and really portrayed this miracle of new life.
Many congrats to Tanya, Andrew and Max on the safe arrival of their precious girl! May you be blessed.
From the bottom of my hear, thank you, for allowing me the honour of documenting your very special, intimate day – I am forever changed.
I, very shyly, asked Tanya for a testimonial for my blog – this is what she had to say:
“We had our doubts about hiring a birth photographer – would it ruin the birth moment, would we feel self conscious, or would she get in the way of doctors and the procedure?
I’m so grateful we didn’t give into the doubts, as we now have the most exquisite photo memories of such a special day in our lives. And no, she didn’t “ruin” the birth moment, we didn’t even notice she was around most of the time, and the doctors were happy to have her in the theatre as Natalie is such a pro, and very respectful of procedures and space. I have always loved Natalie’s birth photos, and have had four family shoots with her, so it was an obvious choice to go with her. Natalie is warm and makes everyone feel at ease, and she really added a great energy at the caesar birth.
A lot of people have commented on some of the photos I’ve shared, saying they wish they had have gotten a birth photographer for their births. I’m glad we don’t have this “regret” as we have beautiful images that tell a wonderful story of the nerves, excitement, elation and relief on my daughter’s birth day.”
